Introducing the iPad NANO!
Gutted... Thank heavens that's over with!
Anyone who knows me well will know what this is about, anyone who doesn't will simply be able to relate to the whole general situation.
When you work towards something so hard that it becomes a part of your day to day life, and everything starts to revolve around it. Almost to an unhealthy level of obsession. You reach a point that whatever the outcome, its for the best.
I think the word I'm looking for here is closure, or at least completion of a chapter. If it works out, great carry on, onwards and upwards as they say. If not, well then its a weight off your shoulders and somehow a relief that its all over with, at least for now.
Its a strange sensation, to visualise the word 'FAIL' but somehow read it as 'RELIEVED'. Strange, but good I have to say. Right now I feel a great weight has been lifted, and that I can just get on and focus on the more pressing and important things in my life now.
Am I relieved to have not succeeded, not at all, in fact its very disappointing to say the least. I hate not achieving goals I set myself, its one of the few things that really gets to me deep down inside. However on this occasion I can accept it without feeling defeated. I don't consider the matter over with, I shall re address the issue in the coming months, but for now I accept a little defeat, acknowledge that I have much to learn, and that I under estimated what was needed from me, and will just up my game when the time comes to revisit the matter.
For now... Its time to focus on my fitness and health, get my finances in order, and relax a little bit with one less thing to worry and stress about for a while. While I feel disappointed, and that I have let my late mum down a bit, and am sure to get it in the neck from my aunt, I know I gave it my all (in the later stages anyway).
When the moment comes again, I will be ready, prepared and on fire. Determined, informed and motivated to burst through this barrier that has placed itself in front of me. I will not draw weakness from my past experience, and instead will use my lessons from the past to drive me with more determination to my goal. When I do, it will bring change to my life, and those around me.
So, what things have dragged you down to a low point, so far in fact that you were relieved to get it over with, regardless of outcome?
For me, page turns now, and onwards I go.
A bookmark in place, and a page I will return to at some point, soon.

A quick P90X update....
What I am blogging to say is that I have reached one of my objectives. Not just a milestone, not just a marker along the way, but I have hit my target weight. Sub 220lbs. Now as I have said before, this is a ceiling I want to put in place for myself, and whatever happens, I want to avoid rising through it again. Its an alarm point that says I am happy at this weight, but anything over means something is going wrong.
For me this is a big day, because it means the weightloss part of the program is completed. I am sure more weightloss will occur over the coming weeks, but that will be through physical exertion rather than carefully planning how to lose the next 1lb. Todays weight was 219.6lbs. I like that!
From here on in its time to push HARD, and really step my game up. And I started doing that this morning. With Week 3 of arms and shoulders feeling a bit easier I decided it was time to put the weight and intensity levels up, and the number of reps down (where needed). The result.... well quite simply that OMG feeling after the workout, and that burn during. In short, it felt flippin great, and so do I now.
Another great thing also happened while I was getting ready for bed last night. My girlfriend said to stop holding my breath, and stomach in. I said im not! She was amazed that the definition is slowly starting to appear now, and that you can actually see whats what around my hips and waist now. I too am shocked, when I was putting my shirt on I realised that it just hangs now (the shirt, not my stomach lol).
As for the rest of me, I feel tighter, much tighter in fact, as well as full of beans and raring to go.
I have about another 12 days before my first progress pictures, (30 day), and another 10 weeks of this program, so I am expecting to surprise even myself. P90X is my #1 focus of attention these days, and everything has to work around it.
So heres to working hard, gaining gradually and staying focused.

Oops, I appear to have been shot...
I am sick, to death ironically enough, of people whining about people who get shot by the police. Yes there are rules to observe, and guidelines to follow, but seriously!
A young man was recently shot locally to me, after being challenged by the Police in the early hours, and the outcry has amazed me. For god sakes people wake the hell up. The Police didn't rock up and shoot a man who was casually walking down the road. The challenged him numerous times, and a whole chain of events led to him being shot 5 times. Thankfully for him, no mortal wounding.
This whole 'oooh look he is a graduate' malarky just annoys me no end. I'm pretty sure Hitler was good at maths, Saddam Hussain probably ok at History, and who knows maybe Fred West was a clever chappy too. But what the hell has an education got to do with this? IF you want to use education as a platform, let's... Any educated person who is instructed by the police to stop and put their hands up does. Any person with any common sense would see a gun and comply, PERIOD... So what's that we were saying about an education?
I know there are people who feel oppressed by the government, and ruled with an iron fist by the police, and to those I say, WAKEY WAKEY you arse clown! Get out there, spend some time in the real society we live in, get involved, help others. I'm pretty sure I'm right in saying the same group who cry foul play, are the same people who turn away, refuse to give statements, and won't get involved if its not directly affecting them.
There are always cases where things go terribly wrong, Jean Charles DeMenezes was a classic example of this, where information was tangled up and an 'innocent' man lost his life. No one can undo what happened that day, however I don't think one case in any way similar has ever been seen. That of course doesn't stop social commentators from making comparisons between other shootings.
I have recently read a blog where it WAS compared, and believed to be a good comparison. 'George' the perfect student from Forest Hill, compared to JCD. Not sure there was a high terror alert the other week, nor that 'George' was suspected of carrying a bomb, but if you think they are similar, fair enough...... Idiot!
Then we have Mark Duggan, another example of someone with no respect for authority, a tarnished record, and a poor decision making process can bring upon themselves.
I could go on and on, but at some point we have to decide if we approve or disapprove of the Police, them carrying firearms, and of course if we understand that actions have consequences. It would appear some do not.
Personally I have no problem with the police. Hell I applied to join, so can't hate them too much. Of course there are rotten apples in there, those who will taint the reputation of the masses. There are of course rules that get in the way of our fun, like speed limits, not being allowed to take whatever you want, when you want, and it being naughty to take or sell drugs. It will always be the case that regardless of the crime, the cry will always be 'go catch some real criminals'.
We of course forget all of this hatred and disrespect when someone else upsets us, noisy neighbours, we lose something, or anything else we suddenly want the polices help with.
Just like firearms officers CO19, its all very well saying its too much, that its wrong to carry firearms etc.... Until something happens that requires a fast and firm response. I also read many comments on this subject suggesting there were 'other options' when it came to disarming and taking 'George' into custody. Now I don't know if you have ever tried taking a stick off an excited child, flailing it about.... That can hurt. Now try taking a baseball bat off an angry man.. Its quite long and seems to hurt when it makes contact with you. Now sharpen said object and suddenly the thought of just wading in with your little metal asp suddenly seems quite dangerous to your own wellbeing.
Maybe if person flailing the object were to obey the orders from the police, no one would get hit or hurt. But if that person ignores all the requests, orders or commands to drop..... Something bad is gonna happen.
If you are an expert in disarming people with guns or large bladed weapons, save a dirty criminals life, and offer to disarm them for the police next time the chance arises.
What's the worst that can happen, the Darwin Awards is always looking for applicants, and you certainly seem dumb enough.
I have said my peace. If you have a gun pointed at you, or the police ask/tell you to stand still, put something down, kneel down etc...... Just do it, rather than being a whining little bitch that moans about what happens next!

A blog from the bath.
I guess I should start by saying some of my best blogs have been written in the bath. Well some of my personal favourites anyway, maybe not yours!
So here goes, first with some blowing off steam and stuff. Things that have caught my attention or pissed me off in general over recent days and weeks. Here is one for you. Why are coffee vendors becoming more and more popular on station platforms these days? It has long been common practise to be located on the most popular routes to the station, but recently it seems that in the minds of the train companies and station authorities, the one thing every commuter who crams themselves onto the busy 7.27am to London Bridge needs is a roasting hot cup of coffee to spill over everyone else... While trying to read a paper and answer a text at the same time.
Hot drinks and busy trains are about as logical as Little Chef selling lager by the litre. Its stupid to mix the 2, so why? Then there is litter, like there isn't enough already, let's sell flaky pastries in lots of packaging for people to flake all over the seats, and wrappers to throw away on the train. Smart thinking people, I like it.... NOT!
Yours sincerely, the person sick of having hot coffee precariously placed near me on busy trains.
Next up is the 'do as I say, not as I do' brigade. Enough already, stop with the double standards before I explode, please! You know the sort I mean, those who preach how things SHOULD be done, but refuse to observe their own stupid rules. Work colleagues who just don't see what they are doing themselves before commenting on others, rule enforcers who openly flaunt the rules themselves, or anyone else who just thinks they are perfect in any way shape or form. No one is, don't kid yourself please.
For the record, I'm shocking for double standards on some things, but that doesn't mean everyone should be. The one thing I have on my side in this is honesty. I am almost duty bound to tell you what I am thinking. Its either an affliction or a blessing, the situation usually dictates which it is for that case.
Examples of the above, cops who speed and talk on the phone, workmates who bitch about others, then demonstrate the exact weakness or fault they speak of.
Hmmm what else is there now. Oh, Olympic fever! For some enthusiastic people who live in London its the best thing since sliced bread. For others, those who use the transport system, I'm not so sure. Something tells me I will be riding to and from work during this glorious occasion. Yes its a good thing, there is excitement in all of us I'm sure, however some seem a little bit carried away by it all. If your business will benefit from it I'm pleased for you, if you are a keen follower of the olympics or the events covered, again, exciting times. But if you are just excited because they chose London to be a few billion quid worse off, and to be overwhelmed by immigration, missing 'holiday makers' who will soon start claiming benefits, and the change to the East End of London.... Look around you. How many Olympic cities are thriving from their involvement in past games.... You have lost my understanding.
As a Londoner I am proud of the city I live in, amazed by London's deep, dark and long history, and love experiencing and sharing my home city with friends who visit. But the Olympics does nothing for me really.... Sorry.
Ok, neeeeeeeeext! Got To Dance, on Sky 1. Now I'm not a massive fan, but seeing some familiar faces on there drew me in. To be fair its not just this show my comments apply to, there are other similar shows. But the quality of camera work and directing has become a joke. There are certain things that tracking shots should not be used on, namely close up tracking of movement. When a dancer glides across the stage, tracking them close up loses all sensation of achievement. Just like the close up tracking of a golf ball being putted. If you can't see start and finish point, the shot is ruined.
Needless to say the finals of GTD were ruined by terrible camera work. Well done Sky1, you might just have fixed the vote by doing that.
Well as my bath draws to a close I guess its time to finish up here and dry off.
So I will finish up with this...
All comments expressed on this blog are that of me, Michael Snasdell. If they cause you grief or distress, please direct all complaints to me... Or if you can find someone, someone who cares :)
The end...
Oh or it was til I remembered another thing, but I will cover that later.

Its Week 3 already!
The dieting has been going on for a few weeks longer now, and the change in me is something quite crazy. Weight loss is happening, and at a nice steady rate now. While the initial loss was quite rapid, now through choosing carefully, and maintaining a fair calorific intake, I have managed to slow the loss to a crawl. A pound here and there, rather than a whole bunch of weight a week. Not to say that rapid loss isn't a good thing, when I did Lighter Life I was thankful to get all the excess weight off me in one quick hit. But this time around is different. Both my goals, and my methods are very different.
Ketosis is an amazing and quite natural occurrence in the body, but not one I would call upon too many times in my life. This new approach for me is about fitness, flexibility and lifestyle, rather than BMI and target weights. When I started this time around I was approx 245-250lbs, feeling the strain a little, and really wanted to shed some weight while building on my weaknesses. A few weeks into the dieting I heard about and took up the P90X challenge, and my god I'm glad I did.
Week 1 was without a doubt a very sharp learning curve, and by Week 2 I was starting to understand the commitment that P90X would require. By the end of that week I was sure this was what I wanted to do, and now here in Week 3 I really cant get enough of it. Finding myself almost in a state of exercise deprivation, and with the urge to do more with my day.
I love that feeling of 'I just worked out'. The tired muscles, the slight ache, and energised feeling that you get when you call on your body for more energy. The following morning, that tightness, and the reminder that you trained as hard as you could the day before. Without a shadow of a doubt my 2 favourites of the Weeks 1-3 routine are Arms, and Plyometrics. The reasons are quite simple, they feel the best and have the highest impact on my body. However the most surprising one for me, and I have to say pretty pleasing too has to be Yoga.
Yoga is something I have wanted to do for years, but as part of a routine, not as a stand alone exercise, and thanks to P90X, there it is, right in the middle of my workout week. Balance, posture and core strength are all hit, and far harder than I ever realised yoga could. The most pleasing part for me has to be flexibility though. Never have I challenged myself like this, but it is something I have always craved. Being able to bend in directions I never knew I could. Its a strange feeling, that after just a couple of weeks I am already enjoying the freedom of movement I have found, and the stiffness that always seemed to possess me has gone. That's not to say there are not still some aches and pains around my body.... My god there are !
So all together, a lower calorie, low fat and carb intake, and I have to say a somewhat limited and sparse diet, put with a decent increase in general cardio exercise with the dogs (6-10 miles daily), and the introduction of P90X 6 days a week, that's one heck of a sudden change of lifestyle. A change that is both positive, and quite simply life changing to me. When I started out with my tag of #Fit4Forty it was always serious for me. However I didn't realise how tightly it would grip me, and how much drive i would find within myself to come this far, let alone to still feel SO motivated at this point.
Seeing ab muscles starting to appear, realising that definition is back in my arms, and feeling the tightness in my bum and legs like I have never done before are not things I was expecting. However all of them drive me on further, and challenge me to find out just how far I can go with this all. Wondering how much further I can go, how much definition I can get out of my body is a real driving force with me now. never have I been particularly vain about my body, but today I can quite honestly say vanity is taking me over, just a little bit.
So here I am right now, Day 2 in Week 3 of a pretty gruelling yet somehow rewarding program, and all I can say right now is, if you don't have a proper routine, you NEED P90X in your life.
I cant wait to post up some progress pictures, and more info on how I am doing.
What I can say for now is, 2 trouser sizes dropped almost now, and approx 30lbs. I am reaching my first proper weight goal of 220lbs, and from there I will consider if I want to lose much more weight in itself, or if the physical gains of P90X will start to cancel out the fat loss with increased muscle bulk and tone. Time will tell. For now, at just 1lb away from the goal, my intention is to just consider 220 my ceiling, and aim to stay below it. If more weight is lost, so be it, but if I start to gain again I will just need to be sure its for the right reasons. 220lbs is my new mooring post, and I shall try and stick around that the best I can.
Roll on the next 10+ weeks, and keep reading, one day I might write something interesting.

***RESET***
Exploring the physical limitations of your body, and striving to stretch further, reach higher, and expand your horizons. Motivating yourself to try harder, and appreciate anything is possible if you are willing to put the work in.
Nothing is impossible (within reason, we are not talking human flight here), and flexibility and physical capability is only limited by your mind and commitment.
Just like last weeks session, after winding down and meditating after the yoga session, it is truly and incredible feeling to just let it all go. For an hour you explore, and find all the negative in your mind, from life itself, and any doubts or disbeliefs you have about yourself. Then after that time you realise how far you have pushed yourself, how much you can achieve if you really want to, and see you have collected up a whole load of junk from your mind.
Those last few minutes of relaxation, breathing, and resting is the opportunity to press the reset button on your life, and it allows you to cleanse yourself, relieve yourself of all the things you have collected up, and just flush them away from you.
For me, I woke a little later than normal, had a hellish morning of delays while trying to walk the dogs to warm up, but once I got started on the yoga it all went away. Total immersion in the activity allowed me to let it all relax for a while, and now, as I sit on the train on the way to work I feel refreshed, revived, and alive.
Thank you P90X for an amazing yoga routine, and for giving me this great reset button on my life.
Bring it!

Monumental stupidity!
Worthless, despicable, and like the enemy.
I don't think I need to go into too much detail here, as the damage is done already. In fact writing this could actually be the worse thing I could do right now. But fuck it. Self pity is overcoming me right now, and a terrible sense of anger at myself for the hurt my comments may have caused.
My intentions were pure, and my only hope was to make sure the truth was told, and a clear reflection of things made. But instead I managed to alienate myself from a group of people I was trying to help and protect.
Maybe it didn't come across the way I hoped, or maybe the choice of words was really as bad as it seemed to some. Either way the damage is done, and the wounds are torn right back open.
So many times my words are apparently helpful, soothing and inspirational to some, but I guess this just goes to show that we all make mistakes, and for my mistake or misunderstanding today I can only say I am deeply and truly sorry. I never meant to cause offence.
What's done is done, but if you can for a second understand where I was coming from, it will put my mind at ease a little. For my stupidity I will be avoiding the topic and any gatherings. However please don't see this as a snub, its just my way of preventing any further problems for you all at this difficult time.
Sorry, to you all.

P90X Week 2, WOW !!
So as some will know I have been following the P90X training program recently, and am now on my second week of it. Week 2 is a repeat of Week 1, and that's a good thing. Seeing what changes have happened already is really quite strange. Knowing I can complete all routines (60) mins now, without hitting pause, or running to the toilet with that feeling of nausea. That alone feels great, but its what comes with it that really makes a difference.
In 10 days I already feel like a different person. Full of energy, flexible, and motivated to keep feeling this way. The most surprising thing (although logical I guess) is the change in sleep pattern. No more late nights, I am ready to flake out by 11pm. Lay in's are a thing of the past too, with me waking by 7.15am and being ready to get up and go straight away. I don't of course. Instead I make the most of some spare time laying about, and relax, waking slowly.
By 8am I am up and out with the dogs for at least an hour. Before getting going I force down a large rice cake or a little cereal / porridge to get some carbs inside me. I have changed the route I walk with each of them a little, just to add to the challenge, and now finish with a nice hill to really get the heart going. By the end of 70 mins and 4+ miles I am properly warmed up, and sweating buckets. So its off home, get changed and get ready to 'Bring It'.
Early days of P90X is a pretty intense 6 day a week routine, ranging from cardio and plyometrics, to yoga and hitting the muscles hard with circuit weight training. By the end of each routine my body is more than aware that it has been worked out. My god it feels good though!
Each morning when I wake up I look forwards to hitting certain parts of my body hard with an hour of training. Every evening I will go through the guide to see what I am going to be doing the next day. Never dread, just excitement. During the day I love to feel how differently I am carrying myself, and realise the positive impact I am having on myself. Not over doing it at the gym like I have done in the past, not hurting myself pulling tendons and causing long term damage to my body. The balance seems spot on right now, and I am loving it so very much. Thank you P90X.
Missing a day of training on Monday was a nightmare, I actually felt full of excess energy while I was driving to and from Wales, like I needed a good run or something to calm the energy levels down a bit.
Isn't the human body amazing, adapting so quickly to our changes, and running itself in a totally different way depending on the activities we take part in every day. I guess I have to be honest though and also mention that while my energy levels are on the up, and I'm feeling so alive, I'm also a little short tempered too. I'm guessing this is my body chemistry changing its game a bit. Its not like I am a raging bull or anything, but I am sure that I have a little less patience at some points in the day.
So onwards and upwards. The weight loss is steady, the toning is happening, and the motivation gets stronger daily. The drive for #fit4forty is alive within, and I feel positive that in almost a years time I will be a very different person. Even when the full P90X program is finished and my 90 days are up, I know I want to carry on working out like this. My diet can adapt, and my routine can maybe relax a little, but I want something like P90X in my day to day life for a long time yet.
P90X.... Week 2, Day 4.............. BRING IT !
Funerals are confusing places
One alarming thing I have found at too many funerals is bullshit. People bringing baggage, assumed authority, and all sorts of things that are quite simply not welcomed at such events.
The purest I have attended would without a doubt be Breeny's. No fakeness, no falseness, just pure respect for the person we had all mutually lost, and that was both refreshing and beautiful. At previous funerals it seemed that a battle erupted for authority, people feeling they knew what was best and wanted. A doorman attitude appears, and people feel they have the right to dictate who comes, who does what, and try to control all sorts of behaviour of those attending.
Tas's was without a doubt a shocking example of this. Such a beautiful man, and his day of departure tarnished with the behaviour of others, all in the name of being his 'best friend'. Too many people feeling they knew what Tas would have wanted, and so much infighting it was unreal. Truly damaging not only to the day, but also for the memories of those not involved in all the bullshit.
Funeral etiquette to me is not a hard thing to grasp. The family hold all the cards, and their respects should be combined and respected. No baggage should be brought to a funeral. We are gathering to pay our respects and send off some one we clearly all care about. Strangers, friend and enemies will all come together for a day to remember someone who we will never see again. We should make the most of this one last chance to see this person, and send them off with warmth in our hearts, and purity in our minds.
Sadly people use these occasions to be fake, be false, and worst of all, to display poor timing and blatant disrespect to the event. Raising topics that should not be discussed, using it as an impromptu opportunity to raise matters that are for personal benefit etc.... Such people are prize idiots and if they cannot conduct themselves properly, they should simply just avoid such occasions for everyones sake. You disrespectful little twats!
So... Should I be blessed enough to be allowed to attend Darrens funeral when it is announced, this is what you can expect from me. Now this might seem rude, but I'm just putting it out there.
I, Me, Michael Snasdell, Snazy will be there to pay my respects to a guy who put a smile on my face. Never did we exchange a bad word, but always I enjoyed his company. I am there for him.... And of course his immediate family.
The rest is a mixed bag, let me be clear. If I have not seen someone for years it will be great to see them, and I will make that known. If there is history between us, we have fallen out, or don't see eye to eye, this is NOT the place I will discuss it. I am not going to smile and be your friend for a day, nor pretend things are different.
I won't be agreeing that we should all meet up more, see more of each other or engaging in any other falseness. I have heard it all before.
Let me repeat, I am there for Darren, his family and my friends so I can offer a shoulder to, talk to, and help them cope, while we enjoy a few chosen memories of the great man himself.
I apologise again if this seems rude, and understand if it rules me out from being there. Call me old fashioned, respectful, disrespectful or just an idiot... But that's me.
I hope that the day will be one to remember for years to come, and that the media continue to give the big fella the publicity he deserves. Lest we forget!
Speaking of the media..... http://www.suttonguardian.co.uk/news/9563309.Tributes_to_car_lover_killed_in_crash/
Dear Media...
Thank you for covering this story of our dear friend who has passed, but if I am sure I speak for many when I say 'Mr Green' was Darren or Dazza (as well as some unprintable names) to most of us, and it would be lovely to see him spoken of as the person he was, not the formal Mr Green. He won't mind, honest. Just like Mr Steer is BJ, always makes me smile calling him that lol.
Anyway. Enough of what I want, and back to the family. Angela, Tony, any of you, if you need anything (inc me shutting up), please just say.
